TIME AND TIDE

This series depicts my relationship with water, from navigating the fear to embracing its expansive presence. My childhood struggles with asthma made swimming and breathing underwater challenging. The vastness and strength of large bodies of water also evoked thoughts of natural disasters like the 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean, which claimed 230,000 lives. A recent mind-altering trip to the Andaman Islands opened my eyes and equipped with snorkelling gear, I discovered a newfound sense of ease in breathing underwater allowing me to witness the harmony of aquatic ecosystems. As I observed the interconnectedness of marine life, my fear gave way to admiration for water’s role in sustaining life on our planet.

The first set illustrates my complex relationship with water through the simple act of showering. Each image reflects my struggle to breathe conveying the frustration and exhaustion with this daily routine.

The subsequent set captures graceful, joyful moments alongside swans and ducks, symbolizing a subtle interaction and appreciation for water's beauty. Through these poetic poses, I aim to convey my personal journey of claiming space and conquering fear.
